Spencer Harrison | Writing Professor and Tutor

My main role is to foster the development of a writer to help them achieve their goals whether they are educational, professional, or creative.

In the process of winning a Fulbright scholarship, I received training and experience at my university on grant writing. I learned how to craft a narrative to effectively communicate the advantages of forming a partnership based on common goals. As a result, I enjoy guiding others through that process.

I have worked as a university professor and tutor for over 10 years; I have taught composition, literature, and creative writing. As a writing tutor, I have worked with writers on essays across all disciplines and on applications for college, graduate school, and scholarships. I offer 1-on-1 writing tutoring sessions at any stage of the writing process—from brainstorming, outlining, drafting, editing, to proofreading.

I also specialize in creative writing and received a Master of Arts in creative writing from the University of Illinois at Chicago, ranked as a top-10 program. My specialty is prose novels. 

I emphasize writing as a process, and I have a variety of strategies to assist the writer in developing their own unique process that adapts to the writer’s development over time.
